Emerging Leaders Academy @ Chavez

Civic Belonging Series

Description

Emerging Leaders Academy (ELA) @ Chavez is a free, cohort-based civic leadership program for students in grades 9–12 at Cesar Chavez Public Charter Schools for Public Policy. Through six interactive sessions featuring YDI’s Belonging Series, scholars strengthen their leadership, civic dialogue, digital citizenship, coalition-building, advocacy, and action skills. Scholars connect these skills to the public policy issues they are exploring at Chavez while developing their voice, engaging across differences, and building the tools to lead change in their schools and communities. | Date | Session | | --------------- | ----------------------------------------------------------------- | | **February 4** | **OWN IT** — Identity • Student Voice • Belonging | | **February 18** | **OUCH!** — Conflict Resolution • Accountability • Dialogue | | **March 4** | **CLOCK IT** — Digital Citizenship • Media Literacy • AI Literacy | | **March 18** | **TEAM UP** — Coalition Building • Collaboration • Civic Power | | **April 1** | **DO SOMETHING** — Civic Engagement • Advocacy • Action | | **April 15** | **FROM BELONGING TO ACTION** — Apply the learning |
