Youth Democracy Summit 2026
On Election Day, November 3, 2026, over 100 youth delegates, educators, advocacy professionals, policymakers, journalists, and community partners across the DMV will gather for YDI’s inaugural Youth Democracy Summit. As the culminating event of our America 250 commemoration, the Summit will invite young people to experience democracy in action, elevate their voices, and build the skills to lead stronger communities.
Through three grade-based tracks—Civic Foundations, Digital Citizenship, and Power Building—delegates will examine issues shaping their generation, vote on priorities, elect representatives to YDI’s Regional Youth Advisory Council, and begin developing a Youth Policy Agenda to share with elected officials.

Civic Foundations
Grades 4-5
Understand how government and public policy shape communities, healthy outcomes, and equitable access to opportunity.
Digital Citizenship
Grades 6-8
Learn to evaluate information, counter misinformation, and use storytelling, media, and digital advocacy to strengthen democratic participation.
Power Building
Grades 9-12
Develop the skills to advance climate justice, economic mobility, and stronger, healthier communities together.
