Coming Soon! Youth Democracy Institute is launching its Emerging Leaders Academy at Yorktown. This fall, students will take part in YDI’s Powerbuilding & Civic Action Series, a four-session leadership experience focused on civic engagement, constitutional principles, advocacy, and community impact. Students will explore issues they care about, develop civic action projects, and represent Yorktown at YDI’s Youth Democracy Summit & Civics Fair on November 3. Students will explore: October 15 — Foundations of Civic Leadership Explore leadership, constitutional principles, and how young people can make a difference in their schools and communities. October 29 — From Ideas to Action Identify an issue you care about and turn your ideas into a civic action project using advocacy, collaboration, and problem-solving. November 3 — Youth Democracy Summit & Civics Fair Represent Yorktown, share your project, learn alongside students from across the region, and compete for Civics Fair cash prizes. November 5 — Reflection, Next Steps & What’s Possible Reflect on the Summit experience, strengthen your leadership goals, and explore how to continue making an impact at Yorktown and beyond.
